Oil Analysis

Partial Filter Patch Report[Sandy Brae Lab
	Report]
  • Filter Patch Analysis
  • Determine the level of solid particulate contaminants
  • Help reduce accelerated wear by taking appropriate corrective actions
  • Kinematic Viscosity
  • Water content Yes or No. Actual percent water available on request
  • pH of Water Glycol Fluids and Invert Emulsions
  • Determination of water content in Invert Emulsions by chemically breaking the Emulsion

Typical Oil Analysis Report Form

All filter patches contain fine to medium size metal particles >5 micron in varying concentrations. Some particles are >50 micron.

All systems were being filtered with 5 micron absolute filters. Several systems needed to be drained and flushed. A quick look tells the story. This customer was also using particle count analysis.

When concentrations of wear materials are this severe, money is wasted on particle counts until appropriate cleanliness levels are attained.
